Week 2




Week 2 Aims: 

1- Finishing the first idea. 

2- Working on the second approach


Week 2 Issues: 

1 - Trying to fit all Components in the test board 

2 - Trying to make the circuit work 

3- Having a problem with installing one of the components ( Clock Generator ). 
 

When we ordered our components we ordered two types of output displays. One is the max7219 matrix display and a set of LED strips followed by a set of integrated circuits as shown in the figures below:

This means that we have two sets of outputs to test during the upcoming weeks and eventually decide which one operates better.  


Before the start of the week, we managed to complete the first part which includes the max7219 matrix display successfully as shown below:

Note: Further Demonstrationssuch as frequency test and final project shape and desgin will be shown in the inspection day. 



The second idea of employing LED strips is not yet complete. We intend to complete it by Thursday, February 16, 2023, in order to compare and determine whether the project is superior.


Approach: We split into two groups. I and Abdullateef worked on the circuit, and Mohammad and Abdullah worked on Soldering the LEDs (14 Bands). 


Issues: The main issue was the Si5351A Signal Clock Generator. When we ran the circuit everything worked probably without any overheating except for the clock generator that we inserted incorrectly.  Unfortunately, we ran out of time so we decided to continue next Thursday.

What is the difference between using this idea? 

Both ideas gave the same purpose and aim. the main difference is the components. The new components that we used in the second project are. Two sets of integrated circuits, a cloak generator signal, Arduino mega, and the LED strip.

Before Attending the lab session on Friday 03/02/2023: On Wednesday, Feb the first, 2023 we managed to have a group meeting with our supervisor. Week 4

Week 4 Aims:  - Finishing the second Idea successfully.  Week 4 Issues:  - Soldering the LEDs together.  In this final week, we managed to finish our second Idea successfully.  Here are some of the steps that we have done to finish the process:  Note: in week 3, we stated that the code was our primary concern. The problem was not in the coding, but rather in the circuit. It turns out that an oscilloscope must be connected to the clock generator for the Lights to respond to music. The oscilloscope probe was used to examine the clock generator's pins 0 and 1. The circuit was operating well and serving its intended function. A reason might be that the output of the Clock generator is defective due to soldering and the oscilloscope probes are fixing this issue.  Masterclock was configured for usage with the nin-default 25 MHz frequency.
